Often referred to as a unit patch, the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) of United States Army Medical Command Korea was approved on 16 June 1997.
Its eight-sided design alludes to the Eighth United States Army which the command supported. Its division into upper and lower halves of red and blue alludes to the national flag of South Korea, the organization’s area of operation. The cross is a longtime symbol medical aid, assistance, and compassion, and its white hue is for purity of intent.
This insignia appears to have been rescinded in 1984, but there is no readily available public information regarding its use or the status of United States Army Medical Command Korea. Customers with information on the status of the insignia or the organization are encouraged to email us so we can appropriately update our product and unit information page.
