U.S. MILITARY SHIRT GARTERS

Maintaining a neatly tucked-in shirt throughout the course of the day without making several adjustments and re-tucks is well-nigh impossible, especially when you’re wearing a uniform without a jacket. But shirt garters are a simple device that makes it easy to keep a squared-away appearance at all times. Shirt garters or shirt stays are not explicitly mentioned in the uniform regulations of any of the branches of the Armed Forces of the United States—but this only means that it’s one of the military’s best-kept secrets.

The principle couldn’t be simpler: clip one end of the garter to the bottom of your shirt and the other end(s) to the top of your sock. The tension of the garter serves two very good functions: it keeps your shirt pulled down (and thus tucked in) and keeps your socks from sliding down at the same time.

Our shirt garters use a “Y-style,” with two clips on one end and a single clip on the other. Attach the two clips to the bottom of your shirt to maximize the downward pull. You’ll never have to deal with the “muffin top” look caused by a shirt or blouse becoming untucked, and best of all how you manage to do it will be your secret since the garter is totally hidden by your trousers or slacks.
