The Combination Cap Device worn by all Officers and Commissioned Warrant Officers (CWO 2 through CWO 5) has two components: a burnished silver spread eagle, facing the wearer’s right, atop a shield of stars and bars that is mounted on a pair of gold, crossed fouled anchors with their stocks pointed outward. It is attached to the mount on the Combination Cap hatband.
A miniature version (half-size) of this device is also worn by Officers and CWOs on Garrison Caps, with the center of the device two inches from the front crease and one-and-a-half inches above the visor (bottom of the cap).
The subdued version of this device is worn by Officers and CWOs who are serving with Marine or Army units.
