The Summer White Shirt worn by Male Officers as part of the
Summer White Service Uniform features the same basic design as the one worn by Male Chief Petty Officers, but with the addition of shoulder loops for the mounting of
hard shoulder boards (the loops are referred as “hard shoulder board straps” in Navy uniform regulations) not worn by CPOs.
Manufactured with 100% polyester Certified Navy Twill (CNT) and featuring two breast pockets with button flaps, the shirt is worn with an open collar to form a V-neck; the collar points measure no longer than 3.25” with a medium spread. Officers wearing the shirt must ensure their trousers are also made with CNT.
The Summer White Service Uniform can be prescribed as Uniform of the Day during the Summer and worn while performing office work or watchstanding or while ashore on libery or conducting business.
