PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS ANODIZED COLLAR DEVICE (E5)

Navy regulations call for Petty Officers Second Class (E5) to wear miniature collar grade insignia on the khaki shirt or overblouse of the Service Uniform and regular size insignia on both points of the collar of the blue all-weather coat. Prior to 2005, E5s could choose between the flat finish of a pewter insignia or the almost mirrorlike finish of an anodized insignia, but for consistency the Navy decided on anodized-only insignia for this particular garment.

Place the insignia on a collar point with the eagle facing to the front (inboard)5 at approximately at 45-degree inward tilt, then position it so that it is an inch from the front and lower edges of the collar. If it is placed properly, an imaginary line bisecting the angle of the collar point should run on top of the vertical axis of the insignia.
