Authorized for wear with the black four-in-hand tie for the Full Dress Blue and Service Dress Blue uniforms worn by Officers and Chief Petty Officers, this gold tie clasp features a portside view of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, the linchpin of modern naval operations because of the extensive range for reconnaissance and attack provided by its aircraft (not to mention guided missile systems). Deployable to the most remote regions of the globe, they are the 21st-century version of Teddy Roosevelt’s “big stick;” if an announcement is made that an aircraft carrier is being dispatched to a particular location, it almost goes without saying that trouble is brewing there.
You’ll note that we also carry this tie clasp in silver even though current Navy regulations do not authorize the wear of silver tie tacks or clasps. Up until 2004, however, enlisted male Sailors in the rates of E-6 and below wore black four-in-hand ties as part of the Winter Blue uniform, and regulations permitted them to wear plain or decorated silver tacks or clasps.
Place tie clasps an inch below the middle of the tie; the bottom of the tie should be no more than one inch above the buckle (and is not allowed to ever cover the buckle). Navy regulations regarding tie tacks and clasps state that the “uniform coat should cover it.”
Customers purchasing this tie clasp may wish to add the
four-in-hand and
pre-tied neckties to their shopping carts.
