Our embroidered Chief Warrant Officer 4 Flight Suit rank insignia are easily positioned on the shoulders of Flight Suits—just place the border of the insignia directly adjacent to the shoulder seam to achieve the proper placement of the insignia 5/8-inch from the seam.
Though designed for wear by aircrew members and other personnel who perform flight or flight-related duties, Flight Suits are not authorized unless the wearer is actually performing those duties that day. Flight Suits are not a liberty uniform, but they may be worn off-base while commuting and also while conducting necessary business typically associated with commuting; examples include but are not necessarily limited to stops at gas stations, banks or ATMs, schools or day care facilities, restaurants, and Department of Motor Vehicle Offices (because of their restricted hours of operation).
The allowances for flight clothing are established by the Commander, Naval Air Systems Command, but Area or Regional Commanders to have the leeway to set more restrictive policies regarding the wear of Flight Suits that must be followed within their Command’s geographical limits.
