U.S. ARMY 136TH MANEUVER ENHANCEMENT BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 136th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, also called a unit crest or a DUI, was approved for that unit on 1 September 2008. However, it was also worn by two predecessor units of the 136th MEB. On 9 July 1971, this design was approved for the 111th Transportation Group, then it was redesignated for wear by the 111th Area Support Group (frequently referred to as simply 111th Support Group) on 13 May 1975.

VENIO CITO, Latin for “I Come Quickly,” was the unit motto of the 111th Transportation Group and has been adopted by its descendant units, all of which have been Service or Support units. The insignia's two wheels—one in the center, one as a crest—have a fleur-de-lis over their centers, commemorating service in France and Europe during both World Wars. Two golden arrowheads bookending the upper wheel are for the 36th Quartermaster Company’s participation in two assault landings during World War II; the red and green colors allude to the Meritorious Unit Commendation and French Croix de Guerre the unit was awarded. A white star is from the Texas state flag and refers to the home station, i.e., “Lone Star State.”

G
uidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

Formed in the Texas National Guard in 1917, the unit began its Federal service as the 117th Supply Train, assigned for the 42nd Infantry Division for service in World War I. In 1927 it was reorganized and redesignated as the 111th Quartermaster Regiment, an element of the 36th Infantry Division. Following the United States' entry into World War II, the unit was redesignated as the 36th Quartermaster Company (still an element of the 36th Infantry Division) on 1 November 1942.

In March 1963, the unit was converted and redesignated as HHC, 111th Supply and Transport Battalion, then redesignated five years later as the 111th Transportation Group. Following consolidation with the 122nd Transportation Company, the unit was converted and redesignated as the 111th Area Support Group on 1 April 1975. It would retain this designation until September 2008, when it was redesignated as the 136th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, which was subsequently redesignated as JTF-136 Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (also referred to as Joint Task Force 136)  in September 2013.

As of Autumn 2023, the 136th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is a joint Texas National Guard organization headquartered in Round Rock and responsible for the FEMA Region VI Homeland Response Force Mission.
