The 139th Brigade Support Battalion, current designation of the 139th Support Battalion, is a unit in the South Dakota Army National Guard’s 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. The Battalion was constituted in September 2008 and organized from new and existing units in July 2009.
Its 80-plus HQ and HQ Detachment personnel provide command and control, administration, training, and logistical support for over 400 soldiers serving in four units—Companies A and B, 235th Military Police Company, and the 115th Signal Company—stationed in five South Dakota communities. As the command element of Task Force 139, it supports civil authorities responding to natural disasters and emergency situations.

Commonly called a unit crest or DUI for short, the 139th Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 17 January 2013 and features two black chevrons and a soldier-red pile that denote the Support function of the organization. Additionally, the black chevrons simulate mountains and allude to the Black Hills of South Dakota, the unit’s home state, and the pile symbolizes a spearhead. Inside the pile are a ship’s wheel from the Transportation Corps branch insignia and a key from the Quartermaster Corps insignia, two of the prime components of the Logistics mission; the lightning flash symbolizes the accuracy and speed of the unit’s provision of logistical support. The motto "Dakotan Provider" again acknowledges the unit's original and current assignment in South Dakota.
