Stationed at Fort Leavenworth since 2010, the 15th Military Police Brigade comprises the 40th Military Police Battalion and the 705th Military Police Battalion. Both Battalions are responsible for Detention duties, with the 40th overseeing the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks (the U.S. military’s only maximum-security facility) and the 705th runs the Joint Regional Correctional Facility (for prisoners serving sentences of less than ten years).
The 15th Military Police Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was originally approved for the unit on 18 April 1966. A red-tongued, yellow griffin on a green field is the focal point of the insignia; yellow and green are Military Police colors, while the griffin is a symbol of the steadfast vigilance necessary to accomplish the Brigade’s mission. Along the border of the shield is embattled castle wall, with 15 projections representing the numerical designation of the Brigade.
Customers who have purchased the 15th Military Police Brigade unit patch in the past have also expressed interest in the Brigade’s unit crest, officially referred to as a Distinctive Unit Insignia.
