The 348th Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, often referred to as a unit crest or DUI for short, was approved on 4 February 2011. It consists of a shield divided into upper and lower halves of blue and gold respectively attached to a black scroll with the unit motto VINDICO LAEDO (“Deliver The Strike”) in gold script.
While the images on the insignia are eye-catching, the colors used here were chosen specifically for the qualities and characteristics they represent in military heraldry. Scarlet is often used by Support organizations, but it is most commonly associated with sacrifice and valor. Gold always denotes excellence and high ideals; blue is the color of loyalty and faithfulness (think “true blue”); black conveys confidence and consistency.
In the upper half, a gold griffin is the embodiment of diligence and courage, and the sword it grasps denotes military readiness and justice. A black, gauntleted hand in the lower half is clutching crossed lighting flashes; the gauntlet denotes strength and leadership, and the lightning it holds convey the notions of incredible swiftness and power that are referenced in the unit motto mentioned above.
Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."

Unofficially nicknamed “Trailblazers,” the 348th Support Battalion—latter known as the 348th Brigade Support Battalion and sometimes referred to as the 348th Brigade Sustainment Battalion—was constituted in the Georgia Army National Guard on 1 September 2009. It was organized the next year from new and existing elements, with the latter units bringing their battle honors and military decorations to the new unit’s history and lineage.
Specifically, the Battalion’s organic B Company is credited with five Civil War campaigns (Confederate), World War I service, and four World War II campaigns in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, as well as a Presidential Unit Citation and a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
A subordinate unit of the 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, the 348th Brigade Support Battalion was inactivated during a ceremony held at the Clay National Guard Center in Marietta Saturday, Aug 22, 2020.
