Headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, Joint Base San Antonio in Texas, the 410th Contracting Support Brigade was created to plan and carry out contingency contracting support operations for United States Army South (Sixth Army) in support of Army and Joint Operations throughout the United States Southern Command area of responsibility.
The 410th Contracting Support Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 16 June 2007. Its red-white-blue color scheme is a nod to the Brigade’s parent command, Army Materiel Command. In its center, somewhat obscured by a white bald eagle, is a red arrow that alludes to the letter “A” and stands for the Americas, both North and South. Eleven white stars is a commemoration of the attacks on September 11, a reflection of the unit’s creation due in large part to those attacks; it also represents the sum of the numerical designation of 5th and 6th Armies. A bald eagle superimposed on the arrow is a symbol of strength and vigilance and is also used by Acquisition units, which is the ultimate function of the Brigade. Two crossed swords stand for teamwork within the Brigade as well as the two Armies of the Americas(5th and 6th). "VIGILANT AMERICAS RESPONSE" is the Brigade motto.
