U.S. ARMY 4TH MANEUVER ENHANCEMENT BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

More commonly referred to as a unit crest, the Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) of the 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade uses the color teal blue as a reference to the unit's branch immaterial status. Two dozen stars forming two arcs are symbolic of Missouri, the 24th state in the union and the site of the unit's initial activation. An eagle's head is an emblem of both American freedom and the watchfulness that is necessary to ensure our nation's security, while the sword behind it represent preparedness and the true warrior spirit of the Brigade's members. The inscription Animus Omnia Vincit is Latin for the unit's motto of "Courage Conquers All."

Originally constituted on 2 April 2007 as a Combat Support Brigade, the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade was activated on 16 October 2008 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Over its short period of activation, the unit served as Task Force Operations for Joint Task Force–Civil Support’s Defense Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Response Force; its mission was to leverage its expertise to find ways to save lives and minimize suffering in the event of a homeland CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) event through support of first responders at the state, local, and federal level.

On 17 June 2015, the Brigade cased its colors in a formal inactivation ceremony held at its home station of Fort Leonard Wood.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
