The 560th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, also known as a unit crest of simply a DUI, was authorized on 1 September 2009. Its design is based around the shape of the shield carried by Spartan warriors in Ancient Greece, complementing the spearhead design of the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and while recalling the weaponry carried by history’s earliest elite warriors, highlighting the Brigade’s operations in the overall war fight as forming the “tip of the spear” and reinforcing the motto “To The Point.”
Light blue in the insignia represents the Infantry capabilities of the Brigade’s Long-Range Surveillance Soldiers, while Black stands for the unknown aspects of future battlespaces. A striking lightning bolt symbolizes the Brigade’s mission of providing greater awareness and comprehension to Commanders at all levels who are involved in the fight. A dagger represents the sharpness of both the tactical and technical proficiency of the Brigade’s Soldiers.
Originally constituted in October 2007, the 5167th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade was a unit in the Georgia Army National Guard. Personnel from its component units were deployed on numerous occasions before the Brigade's inactivation in June 2016.
