U.S. ARMY 79TH INFANTRY BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM COMBAT SERVICE ID BADGE (CSIB)

The 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) was formed through the 2008 redesignation of the 40th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which itself had been created in 2006 through the reorganization of the 40th Infantry Division of the California Army National Guard.

While the 70th IBCT did receive a new insignia, it also retained the lineage and history of the 40th Infantry Division and a host of other predecessor units. These included two World War I campaign streamers (St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne) and a half-dozen streamers from World War II campaigns in the Pacific theater, as well as a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation embroidered 17 OCTOBER 1944 TO 4 JULY1945.

The 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Combat Service ID Badge is a metal facsimile of the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch; use the "SSI" link below to learn more about the symbolism of the insignia.
