The United States Air Force Recruiting Service is comprised of three groups—the 360th, the 369th, and the 372nd—of ten squadrons each, one of which specializes in health-care professions. There are over 850 recruiting offices in the United states, with nearly 1000 recruiters devoted to signing up men and women with no previous military service for careers in more than 130 specialties. Some 130 recruiters seek fill the Air Force’s need for new entrants into health-care professions, and nearly two dozen recruiters specializing in accessing new line officers. In addition to these recruiters, there are recruiting locations in the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico and Guam, as well as in England, Italy, German, and Japan.
Beyond simply meeting the quotas for new accessions, Air Force Recruiters also strive to place new enlisted personnel into career fields not only in which they are interested, but which also will maximize their skills and help the Air Force maintain the highest levels of operational capabilities and readiness. To that end, only Airmen with extremely favorable service records are nominated by their commanders to serve as Air Force recruiters. Those who are selected attend a seven-week training course held at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
Air Force Recruiter is a Special Duty assignment, and this basic Recruiter badge is worn only while performing assigned Recruiter duties. It may, however, be worn while attending Professional Military Education courses.
