U.S. ARMY 110TH AVIATION BRIGADE PATCH (SSI)

The 110th Aviation Brigade was originally constituted as the 10th Aviation Group on 30 June 1965 and activated the next day at Fort Benning (now designated Fort Moore) in Georgia. Subsequently inactivated in May 1970, it would remain inactivated for over twenty years until its reactivation and redesignation on 16 September 1992 as 229th Aviation Group. The Group was inactivated a dozen years later at Fort Bragg and simultaneously redesignated the 10th Aviation Group. In 2005, the unit was given its current title and concurrently assigned to the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command and activated. As of Autumn 2023, the Brigade is based at the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Novosel, Alabama.

Wings, of course, stand for Army Aviation, and the ultramarine blue field and golden orange are Army Aviation branch colors; the wings are colored white to indicate purposeful integrity. Below the wings is a four-bladed propeller, again emphasizing the aviation aspect of the Brigade’s mission. An upward-pointing spear denotes the attack mission and the delivery of airmobile assault personnel to the combat scene. The placement of the attack arrow above the propeller simulates the placement of the numeral “1” about a Roman numeral X to create the numbers “1” and “10,” and thus the numerical designation of the group (pronounced “one-tenth Aviation Brigade”).
