U.S. ARMY 110TH MANEUVER ENHANCEMENT BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Approved on 3 August 1925 for the 110th Engineer Battalion, the 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade unit crest features a shield with a blue field and a diagonal scarlet stripe. In the lower left half of the shield are several fleur-de-lis sown on the blue field; this imagery is taken from the coat of arms of the French village of Amiens and represents the Battalion’s service in that sector with the British. The blue also recalls the color of the old 3rd Missouri Infantry Regiment, with the fleur-de-lis a reference to the French sale of the Louisiana Purchase.

The diagonal stripe comes from the arms of Alsace, while the eagle’s head stands for service in the Meuse-Argonne during World War (it is the device of St. Mihiel, the closest town that that bears arms. “Get It Done” is the unit motto, its veracity reflected in the successful campaigns it supported in both World War I (Meuse-Argonne, Alsace 1918, and Lorraine 1918) and World War II (Aleutian Islands, Western Pacific, Leyte, and Ryukyus).

As of Autumn 2023, the 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade remains an active unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. It is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.
