Following its redesignation from the 111th Engineer Group, the 111th Engineer Brigade relocated its Headquarters and Headquarters Company from St. Albans, West Virginia to Eleanor, on a site by the Winfield Locks and Dam on the Kanawha River. It has command and control over three battalions: the 1092nd Engineer Battalion (headquartered at the eponymous Parkersburg Armory), the 771st Troop Command Battalion, and the 772nd Aviation Troop Command Battalion stationed in Williamstown.
The 111th Engineer Brigade Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is based on the unit patch Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. A white, crenellated tower set forms the background for the insignia and is a reference to the unit’s Engineer mission (the Corps of Engineers branch insignia features a tower and is one of the Army’s oldest heraldic images). A black diamond charged with a white powder horn recalls the both the “Minutemen For Freedom” spirit of the Greenbrier Long Rifles as well as West Virginia’s copious coal resources; a diamond is also nearly impervious to damage and is a metaphor for the Brigade’s constant preparedness and readiness.
