U.S. ARMY 15TH SUSTAINMENT BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

The centerpiece of the Distinctive Unit Insignia (also known as a DUI or a unit crest) for the 15th Sustainment Brigade is a facsimile of its Shoulder Sleeve Insignia - Military Operations in Hostile Conditions insignia (SSI-MOHC—you can read about its symbolism here). Above it is the image of a Conestoga wagon set in front of a sun on the horizon, suggesting the dawning of new opportunities and invoking the rugged determinism of American settlers. The motto of “Support The Action” is displayed on a scroll wrapped around the bottom third of the insignia.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

In May 2015 the 15th Sustainment Brigade cased its colors as part of a ceremony that was held to celebrate the unit's new designation: the 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade. At the same time, it was announced that some 200 members of the Brigade would be deployed to Afghanistan. Two years later, the Army announced that 250 Soldiers from the "Muleskinners" HQ and Special Troops Battalion would be deployed to Afghanistan to serve as logistical headquarters for the entire theater of operations. In Feburary 2022, the 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade changed its name to the 1AD Division Sustainment Brigade.
