Based in Grand Prairie, Texas, the 176th Engineer Brigade consists of two Battalions. The 111th Engineer Battalion, headquartered at Camp Bowie in Brownwood, was originally constituted in June 1917 and is nicknamed “Roughnecks.” The 386th Engineer Battalion Headquarters was constituted and organized at Fort Knox, Kentucky during World War II and is currently based out of Corpus Christi. As of Autumn 2023, the 176th Engineer Brigade is assigned to the 36th Infantry Division.

The 176th Engineer Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia is replete with imagery that pays tribute to the Brigade’s home state and its core mission. A blue star with white trim recalls Texas’ status as the Lone Star state, while the saltire is taken from the Confederate flag. An upright sword symbolizes the Brigade’s ability to engage in combat to fulfill its ultimate support mission, which is reflected in the brick wall. Scarlet and white are the Corps of Engineer colors, and the motto “QUOD INCEPIMUS CONFICIEMUS” translates into English as “What We Have Begun, We Shall Finish.”
