The Nevada Army National Guard’s 17th Sustainment Brigade was activated in 2009, with two battalions under its command: the 17th Special Troops Battalion and the 757th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. In the 757th are four companies--150th Maintenance Company, 485th Military Police Company, 593rd Transportation Company Medium Truck (POL), 609th Engineer Company—and the 106th Public Affairs Detachment.
Tasked with Command and Control of all Nevada ARNG units, the 17th Special Troops Battalion comprises three Engineer units (240th Engineer Company, 277th Engineer Haul Platoon, 777th Engineer Detachment), two Military Police units (72nd MP Company and137th MP Detachment), a Transportation Company (1864th Medium Truck), and of course a Headquarters and Headquarters Company.
A bighorn desert sheep’s head is the focal point of the 17th Sustainment Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, recalling the unit’s home of Nevada. Silver is used throughout the insignia as well, a reminder of the previous mineral that brought so many miners West and helped populate the burgeoning state. "Victory Through Endurance" was selected as the unit motto when the Brigade was formed.
