Approved on the same date (16 April 2008) as the unit was activated, the 200th Military Police Command Distinctive Unit Insignia is predominantly colored in the green and yellow hues of the Military Police branch colors. The five-sided shield is divided into four sections with a saltire, with fleurs-de-lis in the left and right sections signifying the perfection necessary to serve in the role of Military Police. The need for personnel who make up the cream of the Army crop is echoed in the unit motto, "Commanding The Best."
Gold rays streaming upward suggest rays of light that serve to lead the way, with a compass rose above them representing the areas of responsibility of the Command—border to border, shore to shore of the United States. The five stars at the top denote the five Military Police functions: Maneuver and mobility support, area security, law and order, internment and resettlement, and police intelligence. An upright pike stands for combat readiness and vigilance and strength and protection within the law.
Guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
