The coat of arms from which the 29th Brigade Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia (also called a unit crest or DUI for short) is taken was approved on 17 July 1967. A disc with wavy lines between two Oceanic war spears in the top center commemorates the Battalion’s participation in the Central Pacific World War II campaign. The shield is divided into blue and scarlet halves; blue is an indication of the organization’s origins and service in the Infantry branch, while the scarlet denotes Support.
Interlaced narrow chevrons below the disc allude to the coordination and control that results from the Brigade’s support mission. The peaked chevrons emanating from the small wave at the base of the shield are symbolic of the mountains that are the hallmark of the Hawaiian Islands; combined with the multi-barbed spears, which are a reference to King Kamehameha I, they denote the unit’s organization and location of Honolulu on the island of Oahu. "Service All Ways" reflects the Battalion's multifaceted support capabilities and via a pun also highlights its readiness to provide them to support the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team or other units as necessary.
Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

The 29th Brigade Support Battalion stands ready with the organization and equipment necessary to sustain the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) as it carries our state and Federal missions. In addition to its Headquarters and Headquarters Company, it contains companies to handle Distribution, Field Maintenance, and Medical responsibilities, along with a total of four Forward Support Companies tasked with supporting the 29th IBCT maneuver battalions and squadrons.
In addition to a Meritorious Unit Commendation it received for its service in Iraq from November 2008 to August 2009, the Battalion has also received some media mentions because 2020 Democratic Presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard served as a Specialist in a field medical unit of the Battalion stationed at Logistical Support Area Anaconda in Iraq in 2005. Gabbard was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal at the end of her tour.
