The 302nd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade motto, BELLUM VERSO CUMULAVI, is essentially a Latin reworking of a description of the Brigade’s current and previous designations; to wit, “Combat Maneuver Enhancement.” (The Brigade was originally formed as a Combat Support Brigade in 2006 and was designated as Maneuver Enhancement in 2008.) This Latin phrase is written in gold (yellow) script on a green scroll capping the 302nd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia to emphasize the Military Police functions of the Brigade since green and yellow are MP branch colors.
Military Police capabilities and their importance to the success of a Maneuver Enhancement Brigade are emphasized further with the inclusion of a double-sided fasces, a standard symbol utilized in MP heraldry, at the forefront of several other branch symbols. Behind the fasces is a blue-bordered benzene ring with golden fill; the ring is a standard symbol for Chemical Corps units, and the Corps’ branch colors are cobalt blue and golden yellow.
The benzine ring rests upon a red, four-sided fortification, a graphic frequently used to denote Engineer units or functionality, which in turn surmounts a black, gold-bordered triangle. The three components of a Maneuver Enhancement Brigade—Military Police, Chemical Corps, and Engineers—are represented by the points of the triangle, which is solid black to denote unity and solidarity in achieving the Brigade’s missions.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e),
