The 303rd Ordnance Battalion Unit Crest, more commonly called a unit crest, was originally approved for the 303rd Maintenance Battalion o n4 February 1969. It was subsequently redesignated, with updated description and symbolism, for the 303rd Ordnance Battalion on 16 October 2009.
A black torii gate commemorating the unit’s World War II service on Okinawa is the focal point of the insignia, with a “spanner”—a medieval wrench that was used to tighten wheellock firearms—that symbolizes Maintenance, the Battalion’s past mission and branch affiliation. "Assured Quality" is the Battalion motto.
The 303rd Ordnance Battalion was originally constituted under that designation on 3 April 1944. It would earn an uninscribed Asiatic-Pacific Theater streamer before being inactivated on 30 January 1946 and then allotted to the Organized Reserves on 27 November 1946. It would undergo a series of short-term activation/inactivations before being redesignated on 31 December 1966 as the HHD, 303rd Maintenance Battalion, concurrently allotted to the Regular Army, and activated in Germany. It was inactivated in Germany on 21 January 1976 and was still inactive when it was redesignated as HHD, 303rd Ordnance Battalion on 1 May 2007.
Finally activated on 16 October 2009 after more than thirty years, the Battalion was deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn in 2010. In 2012, the Battalion was awarded for its outstanding service in carrying out combat operations in Baghdad between 6 November 2010 and 5 November 2010.
As of Autumn 2023, the 303rd Ordnance Battalion is assigned to the 8th Military Police Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command.
