U.S. ARMY 319TH SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 319th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion is a United States Army Reserve unit headquartered at Harlingen, Texas and assigned to the 211th Regional Support Group, 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), 377th Theater Sustainment Command. It was originally constituted in the Army Reserve as HQ and HQ Detachment (HHD), 319th Support Battalion on 26 November 1991, but it was not activated until 16 September 1995 at Miami, Oklahoma.

Ordered into active military service on 7 December 2003, the Battalion deployed to Iraq and, after its return to the Unite States in 2005, was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its outstanding service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was reorganized and redesignated on 17 September 2006 as HQ and HQ Company (HHC), 319th Support Battalion, and the following month its location changed to San Antonio, Texas on 16 October 2007; one year to the day later, the Battalion was relocated to its current (as of Autumn 2023) home at Harlingen, Texas.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia now worn by the personnel of the 319th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion was authorized for the 319th Support Battalion on 30 December 2003. It features a disc divided by a chevron, with the colors buff and scarlet—the colors traditionally associated with Support organizations—used respectively as the background for the top and bottom portions of the disc.

Attached to the disc are four feathers, creating a stylized Indian war shield which alludes to the unit’s home regions of Oklahoma while symbolizing defense and preparedness. A motto scroll in black, the color of strength and solidarity, encircles the disc and passes behind the feathers which are rendered in white to denote integrity. “We’ll Take It From Here!” is the unit motto, displayed in text of gold to signify excellence and high achievement.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
