The 357th Air Defense Artillery Detachment was originally constituted in the Army as the 357th Coast Artillery Transport Detachment on 17 June 1944 and activated in Australia 5 July 1944. It was honored with two campaign streamers, New Guinea and Luzon, for its World War II Asiatic-Pacific Campaign award and was subsequently inactivated on 1 April 1946 in Japan. From 1948 to 1995, it was redesignated as the 357th Antiaircraft Artillery Operations Detachment and allotted to the Reserves, first to the Organized Reserve Corps (ORC) and then the Army Reserve in July 1952 following the redesignation of the ORC.
Over the next five decades, the unit would undergo sporadic activations/inactivations and a couple of redesignations (as the 357th Antiaircraft Artillery Operations Detachment from 1955 to 1961 and the 357th U.S. Army Artillery Detachment from 1961 to 2007) before receiving its final designation as the 357th Air Defense Artillery Detachment on 1 October 2007, followed by its last activation on 16 April 2008.
On 17 October 2011, the Detachment was inactivated and redesignated as the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command. The old 35th ADAD Shoulder Sleeve Insignia seen here was cancelled at that time, with the 10th AAMD being assigned a different Shoulder Sleeve Insignia.
