The centerpiece of the 4th Sustainment Brigade's unit Crest—officially known as a Distinctive Unit Insignia, or DUI—is a bamboo ring featuring eleven sections, standing for the eleven campaigns for which the unit received official participation credit. Bamboo is also symbolic of the brigade's work in the Southwest Asia theater of operations. Three crossed swords stand have multiple meanings. They celebrate the three awards the unit received for its service in Vietnam; they represent the three types of mission (transportation, supply, and service logistics) with which the unit has been tasked; and they are a symbol of combat readiness.
Like its Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB), the DUI features an ivy leaf in recognition of the unit's support of the 4th Infantry Division. The phrase HEM PERFICITE is Latin for the unit's motto: "Just Get It Done."

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
