The 403rd Support Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, unit patch, was originally approved on 16 October 2008, the date that the Brigade's provisional status was removed and it was made a permanent unit under Army Sustainment Command.
Red, white, and blue partitions in the insignia represent the Army Materiel Command, reflecting the Brigade's origin as the Command's Logistics Assistance Office-Far East, created to provide a forward presence in the U.S. Pacific Command in April 1986. The inverted chevron formed by the partitions reflects the Brigade's status as the single point of entry to Army Materiel Command in the Far East Region.
The wavy line in the white partition mimics the appearance of the taeguk on the Korean flag, as well as serving as an allusion to wave of Pacific look to the Far East and the rising sun. The red disc is, of course, that rising sun, taken from the flag of the “Land of the Rising Sun,” Japan. An upright sword represents readiness and vigilance to support forward-deployed units in Asia.
The 403rd Support Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was canceled by the Department of the Army Headquarters on 21 February 2010.
