U.S. ARMY 406TH SUPPORT BRIGADE PATCH (SSI)

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia previously worn by the various Army Field Support Brigades under Army Sustainment Command all share the same basic design, to wit, the shape of a shield and a field partitioned into red, white, and blue sections that form a downward pointing chevron with an upright sword superimposed in the middle. The colors and three-fold partition is taken from the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the Army Materiel Command (AMC), while the downward pointing chevron signifies the Brigade as the sole point of entry to the AMC from the battlespace. The upright sword stands for support of individual Soldiers.

Where the 406th Army Field Support Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, differs from others is the inclusion of a golden eagle above six stars, three under the eagle’s left wing and three under its right. The eagle stands for speed, decisive action, and loyalty, and is also reminder of the Command’s focus on the Continental United States. Six stars are a nod to the Command’s numerical designation as the 406th AFSB.

This insignia was approved for wear by the 406th Army Field Support Brigade on 16 October 2007. It was cancelled by a directive of  Army Headquarters on 21 February 2010.
