The 528th Sustainment Brigade flash is worn on the maroon beret, centered on the beret stiffener. Officers wear their pin-on, non-subdued insignia of grade centered on the flash, while NCOs and Junior Enlisted Soldiers wear the 528th Sustainment Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia (see below).
Officially referred to as background trimming, the 528th Sustainment Brigade oval is worn beneath authorized Parachutist and Air Assault badges on Service/Dress Uniform coats (AGSU, ASU, and ASU Dress Variation), Service Uniform shirts, and the blue or green Army Maternity Tunic. The 528th Sustainment Brigade is assigned to 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne). Headquartered at Fort Bragg, the Brigade provides Logistics, Military Intelligence, and Signal support both to Army Special Operations Forces and joint elements through its subordinate unites, the 112th Special Signal Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne), 389th Military Intelligence (Airborne), and its Special Troops Battalion (reflagged from the 528th Support Battalion).
Its battle honors include a half-dozen campaigns in World War II, four in Vietnam, and two in the Persian Gulf War, where its courageous service in the face of an armed enemy was recognized with a Valorous Unit Award. It was also tapped for a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its support of Operation Enduring Freedom during the period between October 2001 and March 2004.
