The 647th Quartermaster Company flash, more accurately referred to as an organizational flash because it points to a specific organization or unit, was approved on 26 January 2005.
Flashes are worn on one of the four colored organizational berets that correspond to their unit type or classification; as an Airborne unit, the 647th Quartermaster Company flash is worn centered on the stiffener of the maroon beret. Company Officers (except Chaplains) place their nonsubdued rank insignia in the center of the beret, while Enlisted personnel will wear their Distinctive Unit Insignia, or DUI (Regimental Distinctive Insignias are worn if the unit has not been authorized a DUI).
Guidance on the wear of beret flashes is found in
Chapter 22-16, subsection (a) of the January 2021 edition of DA PAM 670-1.
The 647th Quartermaster Company (Aerial Delivery) is assigned to the 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command and is based at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) in North Carolina.
