U.S. ARMY 650TH SUPPORT GROUP UNIT CREST (DUI)

Currently worn by the members of the 650th Regional Support Group, this Distinctive Unit Insignia—also known as a “unit crest” or DUI—was originally approved on 23 November 1999 for the 650th Support Group. Buff (gold) and scarlet, colors traditionally used by Support units, are used here for the interior disc containing a demi-column and the background of the annulet containing the unit motto, “Provide And Conserve.”

The demi-column symbolizes the organization’s Support mission as it serves as the foundation for a stylized representation of the mountains of Utah, an images that serves as an acknowledgement of the unit’s home state while also recalling the spirit of conservation mentioned specifically in the motto. A maroon sunburst is an allusion to the Army Medical Corps that also denotes new beginning and lofty, while the circular layout of the motto signifies unity.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

Allotted to the U.S. Army Reserve, the 650th Support Group was called into active military duty in 2011 and assigned to the 335th Signal Command and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These achievements were recognized in November 2011 when the Group’s Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment were awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

As of Autumn 2023, the 650th Regional Support Group is a subordinate unit in the 311th Sustainment Command, 79th Theater Sustainment Command, U.S. Army Reserve. It is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
