Approved for wear on 27 July 2006, the color version of the 77th Combat Aviation Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia is crafted from the national colors of red, white, and blue: red stands for valor, white is the color of purity, and blue has long been the color of perseverance and faithfulness.
The square insignia is oriented to create the appearance of a diamond that represents the unique, rare capabilities each member of the Brigade brings to the mission. In the center, a red disc represents the Brigade’s formation in the center of the United States; four spearheads attached to the disc reflect the Brigade’s willingness to advance in any direction in support and defense of the Constitution.
Part of the Arkansas Army National Guard, the 77th Combat Aviation Brigade was formed in 2008 and typically comprises two Aviation battalion headquarters making up a dozen companies in addition to the Brigade's Headquarters and Headquarters Company. In addition to assisting as necessary in response to natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and wildfires, the 77th Combat Aviation Brigade stands ready to perform search and rescue and counterdrug operations as requested by the Federal government or the governor of the state, able to deliver “Force From Above” crucial to mission success.
