U.S. ARMY 92ND MILITARY POLICE BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit DUIs to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 92nd Military Police Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia was first approved for the 92nd Infantry Brigade on 19 April 1967. It was redesignated to reflect the unit’s new designation as 92nd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade on 1 September 2008, and then again on 12 July 2016 when the unit became the 92nd Military Police Brigade.

A red sentry tower is the most prominent feature of the 92nd Military Police Brigade unit crest; it recalls a similar lookout at Castillo San Felipe del Morro in San Juan. Behind it is a yellow disc representing the sun (red and yellow are also the colors of the Spanish who settled in Puerto Rico). Crossed machetes are a symbol of the harvesting of sugar cane, one of the island’s greatest sources of income, but which can also be used as weapons when necessary: they are an emblem of the constant vigilance and preparedness to defend the island.

Blue, red, and yellow are also the colors of the three major combat arms—Infantry, Artillery, and Cavalry/Armor, respectively. At the base of the insignia is the inscription “A LO QUE VINIMOS,” which is roughly translated in English as “What We Came For.”
