On the 93rd Military Police Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, often called a unit crest or a DUI, was approved on 16 June 1966 and amended to update the description and symbolism on 8 November 2007. Its green background is divided into four repeating segments, an allusion to the four campaign streamers the Battalion was awarded during the Korean War. In the middle, a vertical silver column is a symbol of strength and stability and the crossed gold keys represent security—both areas of responsibility for the Battalion. Unlike many Distinctive Unit Insignias, the 93rd MP Battalion’s does not feature the unit motto, “Strike Hard, Strike Fast.”
The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Originally constituted on 8 June 1945, HQ and HQ Detachment, 93rd Military Police Battalion has never carried another designation. During the Korean War, the Battalion’s superior service over the course of four campaigns led to it being selected for two Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citations. In Vietnam, the Battalion took part in thirteen of the war’s seventeen campaigns and received a Republic of Vietnam Cross Gallantry award with Palm and a Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class.
The Battalion was honored with another Meritorious Unit Citation following the Southwest Asia conflict (First Gulf War), but this service was followed by a 15-year stretch of inactivation. After reactivation on 17 November 2007, the Battalion was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which was followed by another tour in 2009-2010 for which it was almost immediately awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation on 20 January 2010. Its most recent activity of note came in May 2023 with members of the Battalion were deployed to the southern border of the United States with a mission of assisting in the management of a surge in illegal border crossings that was expected with the sunsetting of Title 42.
