U.S. ARMY 95TH CIVIL AFFAIRS BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

Approved for the 95th Civil Affairs Group on 27 March, 1969, the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia (often called a unit crest or DUI for short) celebrates the unit’s three campaign participation awards from the Korean War with a gold Korean gate in the center. Surrounding the gate is a white scroll, which is a reference to the promulgation of civilian and military laws by the Brigade; it also is a symbol of sealed records and their safekeeping.

A globe in the background behind is a reminder that the Brigade is prepared to deploy worldwide to accomplish its mission. Behind the globe is a red flash, a sign that of successfully performing the mission of Civil Affairs and military government responsibilities in support of combat and post-combat phases of military operations. The unit motto, “Advise Support Stabilize,” sums up the overarching mission of Civil Affairs branches in working with U.S. military and host nations.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.
