U.S. civilian personnel, including civilians working for the Department of Army, attached to authorized to accompany armed forces of the United States, may be authorized to wear Army utility uniforms if they are required in the performance and the wear is authorized by the Area Commander, the Army Service Component Command, and/or the Commander of a Direct Reporting Unit.
The minimal civilian insignia is a black equilateral triangle, 1.25” per side, with the letters “US” embroidered a quarter-inch wide and a half-inch high. The triangle is printed on a colored camouflage pattern cloth; the Operational Camouflage Pattern has been the only pattern authorized by the Army since October 2019.
Thee are some civilian assignments for which the Army has created specialized insignias stating the assignment, and among them is “Ammunition Specialist.” It has been included in the list of Army-recognized assignments with pre-printed insignias since at least 2005.
