The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) on which the 103rd Expeditionary Command Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is based upon was approved way back in 1922 and has been redesignated for a slew of units since that time. Since the introduction of the CSIB as an accouterment, however, the SSI upon which it is based has only been designated for the 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command.
The 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command is an Army Reserve unit with more than five dozen subordinate units comprising over 5,300 Army Reservists based in America’s Midwest, including Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Whether providing essentials such as food and water or fuel and ammunition or devising solutions to logistics problems, the 103rd has time and again lived up to its unit motto of “We Succeed.”
