The 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, is based upon the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) that was approved in December 1983. Unlike the SSI, which is also produced in subdued versions for wear on utility uniforms like the ACU, the CSIB comes only in full color. Neither the CSIB nor SSI include the Brigade's motto, "Deeds Above Words."
On the Army Service Uniform coat, males wear the CSIB centered on the right breast pocket, while females wear it parallel to the waistline with the top of the badge flush with the top of the second button from the bottom. While personnel may wear up to two ID badges on the right side of the Service and Mess Dress uniforms, they may wear only one CSIB at a time regardless of how many they have been authorized. Additionally, they may move any ID badge with lower precedence that’s normally worn on the right to the left side to allow the CSIB to stand alone.
For full guidance on the wear of the CSIB, including its wear with miniature ID badges, please refer to Section 22-17, Identification Badges (
pp. 331 through
333) in the January edition of DA 670-1.
