The Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) of the 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade employs the same imagery and design as the Brigade’s unit patch, or Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. That insignia was originally designed for the 110th Combat Support Brigade, with the initial work on the insignia being done by Brigade member Specialist Oliver Oropeza, who chose the image of a phoenix as a symbol of the Brigade’s transition from Combat Support to Maneuver Enhancement. Sadly, Oropeza died in a motorcycle accident before he could finish his work on the design, but the 110th decided to retain the phoenix as the focal point of the insignia.
Red and white in the insignia are branch colors of the Corps of Engineers are included in homage to the Brigade’s predecessor unit, the 110th Engineer Battalion. The blue chevron was chosen to recall the links to the 3rd Missouri Infantry Regiment (blue is the color of infantry), and the three stars denoted the three basic missions of a Maneuver Enhancement Brigade—Protect, Enhance, and Enable—necessary for the unit to “Get It Done” in its combat support role.
