The 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Combat Service Identification Badge insignia is taken from the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI), which was first approved for the 30th Engineer Brigade on 30 July 1974.
By that time, the unit had undergone numerous changes in its designation since its original constitution a Company D, 1st Regiment of Infantry on March 6, 1911. As the 105th Engineer Regiment it had been assigned to the 30th Division during World War I, taking part in three campaigns and helping break the Hindenburg Line to bring the war to an end. It was during these actions that the unit acquired its motto, “Ever Dependable.”
In 1943 it was redesignated as the 105th Engineers Battalion (also referenced as the 105th Engineer Combat Battalion) and again assigned to the 30th, fighting with the division from Omaha Beach until the war in Europe ended and earning credit for participation in four campaigns. For its role in turning back the German counterattack that was launched August 6-7 at Mortain, the Battalion was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation, a French Croix de Guerre with Palm, and a Belgian Fourragere 1940 for a citation in the Order of the Day of the Belgium Army.
More than 30 years elapsed from the time the 30th Engineer Brigade’s SSI was approved in 1974 and the Brigade was redesignated as the 130th Combat Support Brigade (Maneuver Enhancment) in 2006. In 2008, the Brigade was redesignated as the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.
It was amended to correct the dimensions in the description in 31 Jan. 1975. It was redesignated in 2006, for the 130th Combat Support Brigade (Maneuver Enhancement) with the description and symbolism updated in 2007, and redesignated for the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade in 2008. The brigade is headquartered in Charlotte, NC.
