Designed for placement on the wearer’s right side of either the Army Service/Dress and the Mess/Evening Mess uniforms, the Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, is fifth in the order of precedence of the identification badges also authorized for wear. Regulations allow Amy personnel to move any ID badge with lower precedence than the CSIB to the wearer’s left in order to more prominently display the CSIB.
The 135th Sustainment Command’s Combat Service Identification Badge uses two primary colors, buff and red, that have long between associated with Support and Sustainment units. In its middle is a Saint Andrews’ Cross, also called a saltire, with a mill rind placed in the middle of the shield; the mill rind has been an image of support because it is the part of the mill stone that actually grinds down grains to a flour and other comestibles.
This design, which is also used for the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (unit patch), was approved and given an effective date of 16 July 2007.
