The Combat Service ID Badge of the 136th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade features a white, five-pointed star on a blue background—obviously a nod to the Brigade’s home state of Texas—in the upper horizontal half of a shield divided by a green lightning flash. Lightning is always a sign of speed and accuracy in heraldry, reflecting the unit’s ability to rapidly deliver assistance when called upon during domestic emergencies as well as when activated for Federal service to provide Army units with security and freedom.
Combat Service Identification Badges were introduced around the time as the Army Service Uniform was issued to replace the Class A/B Army Green Uniform; they took the place of the colorful unit patches worn on the old "Army Greens." Also called CSIBs, these badges are worn by male and female personnel on the right side of the Army Service Uniform and the Mess/Evening Mess Uniforms. Males wear the CSID centered on the breast pocket of the ASU jacket, while females wear it lower (near the second button from the bottom) and parallel to the jacket’s waistline. On the Mess/Evening Mess, males wear the CSIB between the two topmost buttons, while females wear it centered between the two lowest buttons on the Mess/Evening Mess jacket.
