The Combat Service Identification Badge, also referred to as a Combat Service ID Badges or simply CSIB, is the Army Service Uniform (ASU) equivalent of the full-color Shoulder Sleeve Insignia that was worn on the Class “A” Army Green Service uniform, which the ASU replaced in 2015. Also worn on the Army Dress uniform and the Mess/Evening Mess uniforms, the CSIB is worn on the right side; any lower-precedence Identification badge normally worn on that side may be moved to the left so that the CSIB may be worn alone or with ID badges of higher precedence. Only one CSIB may be worn at a time.
Based upon the unit’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (link below) that was approved on 1 March 2007, the 185th Aviation Brigade Combat Service ID Badge features a trident with white wings, the latter a common image on the insignia of Army Aviation unit insignias; the trident represents the firepower at the Brigade’s disposal. A rectangular shield arced at the bottom and top has an ultramarine-blue field and a golden orange border, the official colors of the Aviation branch.
