The 191st Regional Support Group Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved for the 191st Support Group, Puerto Rico Army National Guard on 3 April 2012. The overall shield design is a symbol of constant protection, while the light blue background is a reference to the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean around the Puerto Rican Peninsula.
Set in the blue field is a view of the watchtower at the El Morro fortress, a 16th-century citadel in San Juan, Puerto Rico also known as Castillo San Felipe del Morro or Castillo del Morro; it symbolizes constant vigilance and security while honoring Puerto Rico’s stored military record. Above the watchtower, a star is a sign of unending commitment.
The gold and red border signifies the validity and authority of the Group to accomplish the mission, with Soldier red included to signify the Group has proven it can operate in the Logistics areas of Quartermaster, Ordnance, and Transportation to deliver “Domestic and Global Support.” Red is also a reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made in battle by Puerto Rican Soldiers throughout history.
