The 194th Engineer Brigade (Theater Army) Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is a metal replica of the full-color version of the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. You can learn the symbolism of the imagery and colors on the CSIB/Shoulder Sleeve by using the
"SSI" link below.
Since it was first constituted in 1973, the Brigade has been called into active Federal service two times in support of combat operations, but its service overseas does not mean it will be necessarily entering a combat zone. In 2018, for example, the Brigade was deployed to the Drawsko Pomorskie Training Areas in western Poland to lend its expertise in building up and improving the facilities there as a part of Operation Resolute Castle. Resolute Castle is a component of Operation Atlantic Resolve, designed to reassure U.S. allies of support in the face possible Russian aggression.
Likewise on the domestic front, the Brigade’s mission of providing assistance in the aftermath of natural disaster or civil disturbances extends beyond its home state of Tennessee. Following the devastation of Hurricane Florence in Sepember 2018, the 194th Engineer Brigade’s 117th Military Police Battalion was dispatched to South Carolina to aid residents by augmenting local authorities in conducting door-to-door welfare checks, assisting in traffic control to divert drivers safely away from impassable road, and generally providing for the overall well-being of South Carolinians hardest hit by the storm, always guided by the watchwords "Integrity And Initiative" that form the unit motto.
