Informally known as a CSIB, the Combat Service Identification Badge that you see on this page is based on the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) created for the 20th Engineer Brigade on June 30, 1967 and amended on January 14, 1975 to add a blue and white “AIRBORNE” tab above the main crest design. On September 16, 2009, the SSI was amended again to delete the “AIRBORNE” tab, and as a consequence the tab was also removed from the brigade’s CSIB.
You can purchase the 20th Engineer Brigade CSIB featuring the “AIRBORNE” tab on this page, but if you’re searching for the current CSIB as approved by the Institute of Heraldry that
doesn’t include the tab, use the link below. This page is also a good resource to learn about the history of the 20th Engineer Brigade and find out about the symbolism employed in the design of its CSIB.
