The 210th Field Artillery Brigade Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) features the same insignia that was approved for wear as a full-color Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service insignia (SSI-FWTS) on 18 April 1980. The CSIB was introduced with the Army Service Uniform in 2008 and was intended to at least partially replace the full-color shoulder patch that had been worn on the Class A/B Army Green Uniform that was discontinued in 2015.
One attractive aspect of the CSIB compared to the full-color unit patch is that it is worn in a prominent location on the front of the Service, Mess, of Evening Mess Dress jackets. Regulations also allow Soldiers to remove lower-precedent ID badges normally worn on the right side and place them on the left in order to give the CSIB the attention it deserves.
